We woke to a perfect, sunny day and saw on
the TV that there had been flash flooding at the northern end of the strip (we
are staying on the south end) Flooding
in Vegas? Unheard of. Then a smile broke on my face – what if we
become stranded in LAS VEGAS!!
Once
again, the kids didn’t want to leave the room to come down for breaky so Terry
and I went alone – we are getting used to this!
My breaky was a sampler. Mini
waffle with maple syrup and fresh berries, scrambled egg whites with pesto vegetables & tomato compote and a citrus panna cotta
(for breakfast OMG!) coffee and juice. It
might not be a bad thing this indulgence will end within a few days!
Kids in tow we spent the day by the wave
pool and lazy river. Will particularly loves the wave pool while James would rather the lazy river. We then met a
young couple who have been living in Vegas for a year. They worked at the No.1 nightclub in Vegas
(actually no 1 in the world) and told us how they earn $100K a year tax
free. There is no income tax in Nevada as it is not necessary - all of the gambling tourists cover it. They said they get to see all the
best DJ’s and concerts for free - everything is pretty much free - and they love the Vegas lifestyle. They asked us so many questions about
Australia and couldn’t get enough of our accents – we were like a novelty to
them. After talking to them for an hour
their youthful enthusiasm made me feel exhausted!
Back to the room to chill for a few hours
and to get ready for dinner at Veranda and the Cirque Du Soleil Michael Jackson show. The show was unbelievable and the BEST show we have ever seen. If you ever get the opportunity to see the
show – make sure you do it! Music,
dancing, acrobatics, lighting – it was a unbelievable experience. One of the dancers had one leg and was dancing on crutches - a good lesson that you can really achieve your dreams if you work hard and put in 100%. The audience gave a standing ovation and the
show ended with everyone dancing in their seats.
Terry and I then hit the casino for a while
before Terry went back to the kids (bless him) and I continued my play! The kids are always really disappointed when
we come back and we are really enjoying that they are old enough for us to
leave for an hour or so! No big wins at
the casino – this is two nights in a row.
I tried my best to win Terry the Corvette but to no avail. All it takes to change my luck is one push of a pokie or one lucky number right?
