Five Countries Four Marlboroughs: Banff - Day Two, Lake Louise and Lake Moraine

After our morning breakfast, we set off for the day. We set a leisurely pace - first stop Lake Louise, then Moraine Lake. We have driven a lot on the holiday - which we do love - however as we have had more time in the area we are taking our time. Unfortunately it was raining - not heavy, but a good steady drizzle. We decided to take the longer scenic route via the BowValley Parkway with trusty Gypsy. The round trip was around 140kms and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time trying to spot wildlife. When we arrived at Lake Louise, trying to get a park was worse than finding a park at Westfield at Xmas. There were cars everywhere - we even saw the start of a fight! However, with Lucky Bel on board, we chose a spot in the car park and patiently waited. Gypsy had told us that the average time a person stays at Lake Louise is 15 minutes so I knew it wouldn’t be long until someone returned to their car. Sure enough, a few minutes later we scored a park in record time!

Rain, rain go away! It was disappointing the sun wasn't out - I didn't score the money shot - however, I have now been to the beautiful Lake Louise. We went for a walk along the lake and we met a young couple from New York. After chatting a while, they offered to take photos for us and took a polaroid of our family on their camera. The young girl had 5 cameras she was travelling with!

We then went to Moraine Lake was just as pretty although we didn’t stay long as it was raining quite a bit. James scored another Klondike ice-cream - this is fast becoming his favourite treat.

We then headed back via the scenic route again - bless Terry - who knew i was such an avid wildlife spotter! Back at the Fairmont for canapés and drinks. Last night of room service for the kids!

We loved Banff so much, we really would have liked another few days to explore the area. There is so much to see and we know we only scraped the surface!
