Banff - Day One, Gondola, shopping and oh that spa!

We had two full days to explore the Banff area and decided we would explore the town on the first day, rather than take on another big drive of the area.  The weather holds out - the forecast was for light rain.

After a big, yummy breakfast in the ‘gold’ lounge, we took a walk around the Fairmont to explore the hotel.   We went up to the Banff Gondala for a bird’s eye view of the six mountain ranges.  It was still really cold and the boys were hoping there would be snow.  We were prepared this time and took gloves.  Up, up, up we went and much to the kids delight, snow!  It was game on with the kids having snow ball fights for an hour – Terry joined in – I was taking photos whilst dodging the snow balls.  There were little pikas running around the trees.

We then went for a walk around the town.   There were lots of little shops - Will found a popcorn shop, James a lolly shop, Terry was looking for a T-shirt, and I found a Christmas shop.  Terry and I finally found decent coffee.

We decided to head back to the hotel – our days have been huge and the hotel was so nice, the room so big we all just wanted to chill.

The kids were begging us to go out – they just want to chill out with unlimited wifi – so we headed down to the lounge for evening canapés which would become our dinner.  More room service for the kids!  Terry and I then went down for a bit of R&R in the mineral pool in the Willow Spa.  Bliss!
