Day out in Dublin - and an Irish jig

We were very slow off the mark - i think the travelling has finally caught up with all of us - yep, even me.  I am completely exhausted and couldn't bring myself to move.  We don't really know what time it is or even what day it is sometimes - I guess we are right into our holiday!

We headed out around midday for a walk around Dublin and it was still very windy.  First we walked through the Temple Bar area - and checked out all the pubs i would go to that night - and then went for a walk down the main shopping street, Grafton St, then around Dublin's city centre park, St Stephen's Green.  The sun was out and people were laying on the grass through the park.

Does anyone want to go to see the Book of Kells?  'what is it? nope.'
Does anyone want to go to the Guinness factory? 'nope'
Castle?  'nope'

So back we headed to the apartment - and just as we got there is started to pour!  We were lucky again!

An hour later I said to Terry, 'we just have to go to the pub, we're in Dublin!'  So we pulled ourselves off the lounge and headed to Temple Bar.  The rain had stopped, and we were pretty quiet as we walked along - at that point we would have preferred to be in bed.

First stop - The Temple Bar of course where we had a pint of Guinness and listened to the last song of a solo guitarist.  Then 'Down Under' came on and we pepped up a bit - or were we starting to be influenced by this amazing Guinness?  We saw a casino and dropped in for a quick look and a flutter on the pokies - to our horror you couldn't buy a drink.  No wonder everyone looked depressed.  We headed straight back out on the pub trail and found ourselves at the Oliver St John Gogerty Bar.   It seems the guitarist who had left the Temple Bar was now gigging here.  Another Guinness in, we were definitely starting to wake up.  Toe tapping, drink clinking - we weren't tired now.  We decided after a while we'd better head back home - we had to leave home at 5am for our flight to Glasgow. We walked out of the door and..........straight into another pub, the Auld Dubliner.  Well, we had come alive and before we knew it had a pint in each hand.  There was a guitarist and a fiddle player - and now we were really into it.  Terry even did a jig at the front of the stage in the circle!  There is something about a fiddle that makes us want to jig and just before we lost all common sense, we reluctantly headed back to the apartment to prepare for the early flight.

Heading out for the day
